Catch the Curator #16 – Poonam Pincha | PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works

PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works… Crafted for Wellbeing!

Meet Poonam Pincha, the creator of PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works, the soaps that are so drool worthy you would feel like eating…

Poonam Pincha, born and brought up in Ahmedabad, is a chartered accountant by profession and the owner of a Bengaluru-based infrastructure firm.  She thought of PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works after having her second baby in the year 2010. She opines, “As our skin is the first shield of protection against different extrinsic factors like infections, chemicals, temperature and varied elements of nature, we should not only protect and pamper it, but, also nourish it properly”. She also added, “At PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works, we make sure that whatever reaches you is absolutely natural and handmade without synthetic additives and colors.”

Seriously, we hardly care about what we put on our skin daily and later fall prey to the harmful side-effects. PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works: Poonam’s thought behind forming this brand is praiseworthy. So, let’s get more familiar to Poonam and get a closer insight into the brand.

What led you form PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works?

Well, it’s all about a real-life experience that changed my view towards commercially available skincare products. The very thought of that unpleasant incident gives me goosebumps even now. It’s about my son who was just one week old back then. One morning, I saw rashes all over his skin that further aggravated to severe allergic reaction. We rushed to the doctor and there we came to know that it’s due to an allergic reaction to a detergent. Probably, due to some chemical present in the cleanser I used to bathe him with.

That incident was an eye-opener for me. It showed me how chemical-based products can damage our body and agitate our senses.  So, I thought of doing some research about the mass-produced skincare products. Most of the results showed that behind the attractively designed packages and intoxicating & sweet fragrances, are a world of harmful chemicals that seep down through our skin and can cause intimidating health issues. So, fearful, isn’t it?

That day, I decided to do something about it and that’s when I thought about handmade soaps: the essence of PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works and started whipping out on my own.

Do you find your products effective?

Yes, they are.  Many of us think that a small bar of soap can’t make much difference. However, it can. My brother-in-law is the best example to demonstrate this. He has been suffering from high blood pressure since years and nothing helped him like our natural, preservative-free lavender soap. After using it for a considerable period, his blood pressure has stabilized now. Apart from him, many of our customers have written to us that how our coconut milk soap, infused with lavender and tea tree essential oils has helped them with their eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions.

How do you make your products?

Well, we use both hot process and cold processes for soap-making. We try our level best to source the ingredients that are folded into our products, for example – we source the creamy camel milk from Dubai and the different types of healing clays like Bentonite and Cambrian Blue from the US. Even we import the soap molds and cutters from the UK.

One last question, please. Name a bestseller from PaNee Handmade Soaps and Body Works.

Although there are many, the Neem and Turmeric Soap is one of the most popular ones.
