But first, let’s get a little scientific and understand the reason behind darkness in particular areas. Melanin, the pigment that gives our skin and hair colour, can be affected by external conditions. When you’re exposed to the sun, the production of melanin can increase, which gives you a tan. So if you have dark patches and pigmentation, it’s because the melanin levels are higher in those areas. This is where homemade treatements for fair and glowing skin comes in.
Almond & Milk Treatment
For this treatment you will need a handful of almonds (depending on the size of the body part) and some milk and here’s what you’ll have to do: Take the almonds and soak them in the milk from morning until night. After they’re soaked, mash them up with some more milk so it forms a fine paste. Apply to this to your face or concentrate on a particular area and leave it on the whole night. Once you wake up wash your face with cold water. This will leave your skin glowing, fresh, and lighter. This treatment will also make your skin smooth.
There’s another treatment that includes milk, but with honey instead of almonds. All you need is a tablespoon of milk and a teaspoon of honey. Here’s what you have to do: Make a paste by mixing the milk and honey and then apply the paste over the necessary areas, in circular motions. Leave it on for around 15 minutes and then rinse with water. Here’s a little extra tip – do it everyday for best results and use low-fat milk if your skin is oily. The idea behind milk is that its natural enzymes lighten and even skin tones.
Cucumber and Lime Juice Face Mask
Did you know that cucumber is great for lightening dark spots? It also helps healing sunburns and most common benefit – it cools and de-puffs! However, combine cucumbers with lime juice and you get the best skin lightning treatment. You will need one tablespoon of cucumber juice, one teaspoon lime juice, and one teaspoon turmeric. If you have dry skin you can add one teaspoon of glycerine. Here’s what you have to do: Make a mixture out all of the ingredients and apply it onto face and other necessary areas. Application is best with cotton. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes and then rinse with cold water and you’re done!
Cucumber and Watermelon Face Mask
Another very simple treatment again includes a tablespoon of cucumber juice, but this time, with watermelon juice (a tablespoon). You’ll also need a teaspoon of yogurt and a teaspoon of milk powder. Here’s what you have to do: Mix all these ingredients and apply it onto your face for 15 minutes. The watermelon juice will act as a toner and clear your skin, whereas the cucumber juice will lighten the skin. Yogurt softens and tightens and the mill powder is the binding agent, but also cleanses and lightens.
