12 Must-Know Tips to Make Jackfruit Jam at Home

Simple Jackfruit Jam


  • 2 cups – Jackfruit pulp
  • 1 cup – Sugar
  • Cinnamon a pinch
  • 2 tablespoon – Lemon Juice

How to make the Jam

  • Pressure Cook jackfruit with a little water. Allow it to cool and then make a puree.
  • Heat a nonstick pan, add the pulp and sugar. Cook till the puree thickens.
  • Add cinnamon powder followed by lemon juice.
  • Cook till the jam settles and comes together.

Enjoy it with toasted bread!


Jaggery Jackfruit Jam


  • 20-22 Ripe Jackfruit Pieces
  • 1 cup – Jaggery
  • ½ Cup Ghee

How to make the Jam

  • Heat a pan with water over a medium flame.
  • Add the ripe jackfruit pieces and boil them until tender.
  • Remove and drain the water. Allow it to cool and then mash the pieces.
  • Heat ½ cup ghee in a pan and add jackfruit and jaggery.
  • Mix well and keep stirring,
  • Once the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan, remove it from the flame. Transfer the jam to a clean, sterilised jar.
  • This jam stays fresh and good for about 10 days.

Jackfruit Jam with Ginger and Cardamom


  • 6 cup finely chopped ripe jackfruit flesh
  • 1 kg – Jaggery
  • 1 cup – Ghee
  • 1 tablespoon – Dry ginger
  • 1 tablespoon – Cardamom powder
  • 2 cup – Water

How to make the Jam

  • Deseed the jackfruit flesh and chop it into small pieces.
  • Pressure cook the jackfruit pieces with 1 cup of water, until soft.
  • Leave it to cool and then puree it in a mixer.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed pan and transfer the jackfruit pulp. Stir continuously till all the water disappears.
  • In another pan melt jaggery with a cup of water, to make dry, thick syrup.
  • Pour the melted jaggery into the jackfruit pulp and stir continuously.
  • Add ghee, ginger and cardamom gradually.
  • Stir on a low flame. If the mixture appears to stick then add a little more ghee.
  • Stir continuously until oil separates from sides, and it turns into a single lump.
  • Cool and store in an airtight, metal lid jar.
  • This jackfruit jam stays fresh if handled with care

Q-tip – Do not use wet spoons to take out the jam. It will contaminate and spoil the jam totally.
